RIP

Hamas leader Yassin was assassinated this morning. Yassin, an influential Hamas leader, who, according to Israel intelligence, "encouraged suicide bombers" was exiting a mosque this morning, an old man in his wheelchair, accompanied by 7 others when an Israeli helicopter dropped missles on the area, killing Yassin and the 7 bodyguards and or bystanders. The Israelis have intensified their weekly Sunday Assualt's. Children have been targeted as well. The wall has been sealed today to prevent Palestians from entering Israel.
"For the first time, Hamas also threatened the United States, saying America's backing of Israel made the assassination possible."
It needed to be said. EDITED NEXT DAY: This, written immediately after the attack on a Mosque, was an emotional blurb. One missile hit 8 people leaving the Mosque. Yassin, spiritual leader and founder of HAMAS, was targeted to die. (He allegedly is the inspiration and creator of The Suicide Bomber ) Murder is murder and is wrong, no matter where you live or which God you worship, despite what I feel personally, about the South Florida Zionist attiude that I experienced in USA, I still think that both sides our wrong_and America is backing the terrorist with sophisticated weaponry, 3B a year, which makes the " war" a bit one-sided. America's ultierior motives for assisting with terrorism is destroying the chance of Peace in the Arab region.

I'm not sure that I agree with Israel that the response will be effective, but the attack was response for last week's attempt by Hamas and the Al Aqsa Brigade, an arm of Arafat's PLO. Exactly what Israel said it was going to do and what I quoted in my article last week: http://kupe.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=10426

It is very simple. After a terrorist attack, such as the attempted bombing of the chemical storage area at Ashdod, Israel will find those who order the attack and kill them. The equivalent would be the US killing Bin Laden via missle strike.

Interestingly, CNN has a different number of casualties reported than appears in your post. quoting from CNN "Sixteen people were wounded in the attack, including two of Yassin's sons; seven of the wounded were in critical condition, hospital spokesmen said." According to CNN, Yassin was the only of his group to have been killed in the attack.

I am curious as to the source of your statement "Children have been targeted as well." The two bombers sent by Hamas last week with bomb belts strapped on were teenagers. Are those the children you mean? When a teenager or pre-teen has a gun or a bomb strapped to his body, you have little choice about targeting him. I ask because in this strike, the target was a 67-year old man and the missles struck the target.

Yassin was 67 and was a founder of Hamas. He has used a wheelchair since he was in an accident as a boy and was in a wheelchair when he founded Hamas. I bring this up because your statement that he was an "old man in his wheelchair" might lead the casual reader to believe that his infirmity was due to age.

Again, CNN has a different take. The terrorists were standing by their armored limos, Israel launched a strike that was precise, Yassin was killed and his bodyguards badly wounded.

Many of Yassin's speeches are available via Google search. He was a hateful man who used his position as a Muslim cleric to promise Heaven in the afterlife to young men and women who strapped bombs to themselves. He said there would be no peace in the Middle East as long as one Israeli lived. Perhaps there is a way to reason with such fanatics, but I don't see it.

Was'nt Yassin a terrorist?

Yeah, that's a real smart move... Couple more of these hits, and there's gonna be peace for sure...(sigh) - this is so constructive....

E. Macy, you expressed a dislike of Jews in JeremyG's post "I don't like Jews and Pakinstanis." Do to that, I can't help but think that perhaps your dislike of Jews effects how you view the Israeli fight against terror. How can you label the Israeli side as terrorist when they target those that harm their people and the terrorist groups from the Palestinian side target innoscent women and children. I see nothing wrong with killing Yassin since he is responsible for attacks against innoscent women and children.

Thanks for commenting. I just added an editation_to "clear-ify" things. Larry Kuperman CNN would have a different " take" especially if you are in the US viewing audience. By "children are targeted" I meant the two lads murdered last week, yes. Kids are routinely targeted for harrassing soldiers and throwing stones.
Smitty, I don't think Yassin was a terrorist. He was a religious leader and major politician there. 15 yrs. ago he founded HAMAS which is more than just an occupied countries resistance group. He was a rival to Yasser Arafat and his sermons moved people to murder. Also wrong_again the cycle never stops and I get so bloody sick of it.
Yeah Corio, clever wasn't it. NOT.
Tech you and I would never agree on anything. But Yes my experience of the South Florida Zionist Jew has tainted my opinion of an entire race. Especially in this ME terror light, they truly are representative of their race_loud, greedy, spoiled, fat, all the nasty stereotypes...Can't help it but did try and explain my position in another post ( which wouldn't have interested you) But hey ho, THanks for your commentair.

I'm sick of the Money Lenders, who were thrown OUT of the temple. ( and many other places throughout history, there must be a good reason why...)

Your words confuse me E. Macy. You seem to show some regret and backtracking about what you have said before, yet you continue to judge an entire group of people based on individuals with traits you disliked.

E Macy,

I'm really disappointed. I thought your rant against the Jews a few days back was an abberation. You put up a blog explaining your comments and retracting them which was good of you. But then you come out with the same prejudice again in this blog.

I think you need to be very careful, considering history, when discussing Jewish influence. I think it's indisputable that Jews in America have power out of proportion with their numbers. However it's also true that Jews are a tiny proportion of the American population.

Israel is popular in the US for many reasons, one of which is the support of many American Jews. Another is geo-politics. Another is the military-industrial complex. Another is the rise of Christian fundamentalists who strongly identify with the Jewsih state.

It has more to do with the defending of the Zionist State and the Right wing assholes on this site OG than with Jews directly...seen it, been there and figured it out...( and left it)

OG the Zionist run america and they are dangerous, yes their grip on America is deadly they took in the nazis and are applying similar tactics to their own folk.
My opinion remains; the mind set of the Zionist is greedy and they are getting away with murder.
I have grown tired of this site turning the Peace Lover, pacifist, socialist...into The object of Brad and Bakerstreets labelsie: Hate mongering. Hahahahah.
They need to take a look at the book that came out: Against ALL Enemies, and read whats really happening.
Sorry for disappointing you, OG, I respect your opinion, alas...I must be true to myself and leave this acrid environment. {{{it's been a laugh, not much more}}}}}
Forge on, OG San...
